NATCHITOCHES – The City of Natchitoches announces FY 2022/2023 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) funds will be submitted for the following:

Activity

LCDBG funds will be used to rehabilitate and perform ADA upgrades to the recreational playground and bathrooms located Richardson Park.

Objective

To provide adequate service for low-moderate income residents of the City of Natchitoches

Location

The target area consists of land at the intersection of Lake and Sewanne Streets in the Jackson Square neighborhood of West Natchitoches. It is the current location of Richardson Park, located at 1717 Lake Street between Sewanne St. and Highway 1 Bypass.

Amount

The project will provide accessible recreation facilities for residents of all abilities, including a walking trail with bench seating and LED lighting, a new pavilion near the park’s front entrance and restrooms, an inclusive playground for families of all abilities, ADA-compliant benches, new trash receptacles, and pedestal-mount barbecue grills. In addition, the project aims to add parking spaces to add in traffic congestion on the streets surrounding the park which will also aid in accessibility for disabled residents, removal of blighted structures, and the addition of upgraded bathroom facilities.

All citizens, particularly persons of low and moderate-income and residents of blighted areas, are encouraged to submit their views to Mayor Ronnie Williams, Jr.:

The application is to be submitted to the Division of Administration, Office of Community Development on or about June 1, 2022. A copy of the application will be available for review at the Natchitoches City Hall, 700 Second St. between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. – Noon on Friday. The total cost of the project is approximately $400,000. All resident feedback must be provided by May 30, 2022.
