The walking tours will cover topics such as: the Cane River region prior to European contact; the French & Spanish colonial period; antebellum plantation culture and period; Reconstruction and tenant farming; architectural history; and Creole and Catholic culture, history and customs. The tours are family friendly and meant to engage all ages.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation will host “Tailgating – Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Style” at the Landing Restaurant as part of the Induction Weekend Festivities.  The event will include multiple tailgate food stations, sports highlights of current and past inductees, a silent auction, entertainment by Steve Wells, and a fireworks show over Cane River Lake at the Downtown Natchitoches Riverbank. Free family event will feature magic, activities, swimming, food and fun!

 The City of Natchitoches Recreation and Parks Department and My 93.9 FM will host the Second Annual Family Day at the Park on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at City Park on Amulet Street.  This free event will feature family friendly activities including a magic show, swimming, games, concessions, face painting and more.

Activity booths, bounce house, hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones will be available for all from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Children of all ages will enjoy a free magic show at 9:15 a.m. followed by free balloon animals from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Attendees can also enjoy open swim at City Pool from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  All activities are free and open to the public.
