NATCHITOCHES HISTORIC DISTRICT BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO HOST GIRLS GETAWAY WEEKEND

 

The Natchitoches Historic District Business Association will host a Girls Getaway Weekend, June 5 – 7, 2015, in downtown Natchitoches.  The “Steel Magnolias Style” event will feature three fun-filled days of activities, shopping, dining and entertainment.

 

Registration for the event is $50 per person.  Registration entitles participants to a custom Steel Magnolia T-shirt, exclusive discount shopping, Friday night “Taste of Natchitoches” reception at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Northwest Louisiana History Museum, wine and cheese reception and tour of the Steel Magnolia House, movie night featuring Steel Magnolias at Beau Jardin, and Sunday brunch at historic Samuel Guy house.

 

Additional weekend activities such as a garden terrarium class at Kaffie Frederick, “Painting a Memory” at the Natchitoches Arts Center, and a Wine Pairing at The Landing Restaurant are available for additional fees.

Natchitoches Historic District Wallking Tours (11am & 2pm)

Natchitoches Historic District Wallking Tours (11am & 2pm)

Cane River National Heritage Area and the Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission offers guided walking tours of the Natchitoches National Historic Landmark District twice daily at 11am & 2pm, Tuesday through Saturday. 

The walking tours will cover topics such as: the Cane River region prior to European contact; the French & Spanish colonial period; antebellum plantation culture and period; Reconstruction and tenant farming; architectural history; and Creole and Catholic culture, history and customs. The tours are family friendly and meant to engage all ages.

Tours are free and will begin at the Natchitoches Area Convention and Visitors Bureau located at 780 Front Street. For large group tours, please contact the Cane River National Heritage Area in advance at 318.356.5555.
