Natchitoches Historic District Wallking Tours (11am & 2pm)

Cane River National Heritage Area and the Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission offers guided walking tours of the Natchitoches National Historic Landmark District twice daily at 11am & 2pm, Tuesday through Saturday. 

The walking tours will cover topics such as: the Cane River region prior to European contact; the French & Spanish colonial period; antebellum plantation culture and period; Reconstruction and tenant farming; architectural history; and Creole and Catholic culture, history and customs. The tours are family friendly and meant to engage all ages.

Tours are free and will begin at the Natchitoches Area Convention and Visitors Bureau located at 780 Front Street. For large group tours, please contact the Cane River National Heritage Area in advance at 318.356.5555.

Natchitoches Recycles Group Meeting

The Natchitoches Recycles Group will hold a meeting at the Natchitoches Arts Center located at 716 Second Street.  The Natchitoches Recycles Group meets the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Natchitoches Arts Center.

 

The Natchitoches Recycles Group is a gathering of concerned citizens who wish to improve recycling within the City of Natchitoches. The group serves as a committee of Keep Natchitoches Beautiful.

 

The public is invited to attend.

40 To 40 Event

On April 16, 1975, Natchitoches State University awarded it first 10 athletic scholarships to women. Forty years later, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the NSU Athletic Department will celebrate the top 40 moments of NSU’s 40 years of women’s athletics. This event will feature a panel of the original signees discussing their experiences.

The event is FREE and open to the public.
