The mission of the City of Natchitoches Recreation and Parks Department is to provide all Natchitoches residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a diverse mix of well-maintained, safe, accessible areas and facilities within the City’s park system.  The department also seeks to offer a variety of indoor/outdoor recreational opportunities and innovative programming, which may benefit and enhance an individual quality of life and well being.

The department oversees a number of local parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities, many of which feature walking trails, playground equipment and covered pavilions. The Recreation and Parks Department works closely with other sporting leagues which provide additional recreational opportunities to local youth.  Youth baseball, softball and soccer are offered seasonally to Natchitoches youth.

Community Center Rental Agreement 

Through a grant from The Rapides Foundation, the City of Natchitoches Recreation and Parks Department is launching a new health and wellness program known as "Get Fit Natchitoches."  The program will include free classes and trainings designed to get the community healthy and active.  To learn more about the program, please contact the City's Wellness Coordinator Dr. Michael Moulton at moultonm@nsula.edu.

If your organization does not currently offer any healthy lifestyle programs or would like to increase the diversity of your offerings, consider the Get Fit Natchitoches Team to be your one-stop programming resource.  The dedicated staff of health educators includes a number of Northwestern State University health promotion faculty members and graduate students, respected local physicians, and a host of certified personal trainers and nutritionists.  These professionals are qualified to address a variety of healthly lifestyle topics and will tailor programs to meet the unique needs of your organization.
